One of the most popular directors and actors in Serbia, Dragan Bjelogrlić, said in an interview for Nedeljnik weekly magazine that even the filmmakers in Eastern Europe knew about wrongdoings of the disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein's practice.

"I used to go to L.A. only occassionaly and heard about him and the things he'd be saying to every single young actress he would liked: 'If you sleep with me, it doesn't mean you're going to be famous. But if you do not sleep with me, it means that you are certainly not going to be famous.' Now Hollywood is suddenly shocked after 20 years?! By the way, every one of those actresses who'd been with him had won Oscar", Bjelogrlić noted.

"I know the story when Alexander Payne, who was a young director at the time, got into Weinstein's car during Toronto International Film Festival, and while driving to the hotel Harvey told him: 'You have five millions for the movie.'"

Bjelogrlić has been a huge star for decades in Yugolsavia at first, and now in Serbia, after the breakup of Yugoslavia. His movies are often blockbusters, and his TV show "Shadows over Balkans" recently started showing on the Serbian Radio-Television and was hailed as "Serbia's version of Peaky Blinders".
